The gas transmission system operators (TSOs) and the two market area managers GASPOOL Balancing Services (GASPOOL) and NetConnect Germany (NCG) have announced the merger of their market areas into Trading Hub Europe (‘THE’) on1 October 2021.For the purposes of REMIT reporting, the single German gas market area THE will be identified with one Energy Identification Code (EIC), i.e. 37Y005053MH0000R
In line with the indications provided in the Annex VI of TRUM that states a preference for the EIC type Y code, ACER intendsto include the Y-code of the new market area in the List of Accepted EICs.
According to the quarterly update of the List of Accepted EIC code, the inclusion of the new EIC in the List of the Accepted EICs will take place by the end of September 2021. The inclusion of the new EIC code assigned to the single German gas market areain the List of Accepted EICs will not imply the immediate deletion of the EICs now assigned to the existing marketareas operated by GASPOOL and NCG. The existing EICs will be still included in the List of Accepted EICs after October 2021 for a period of 6months. MPs will be able to report with GASPOOL and NCG codes during this interim period.
